Heather Hedden became manager of the Digital Publications SIG on July 1, replacing Steve Ingle, who had served as SIG manager for the past year. During his tenure Steve oversaw the change of the SIG’s name and focus from Web & Electronic Indexing and the establishment of a new Google group as the discussion forum for SIG members.
Heather had been manager of the predecessor Web Indexing SIG from 2005 to 2007 and then founded and managed the Taxonomies & Controlled Vocabularies SIG from 2007 to 2010. Originally she was interested in website indexing and taught and wrote about it. Now she is interested in learning about and advocating methods of embedded indexing and the creation of hyperlinked indexes in ebooks, because she is employed by a publisher.
